Defamation of women in press & media needs to be restricted

Grievance petition to Ministry of WCD No.DOWCD/E/2011/00064 dated 27.07.2011

Many NON-congnisable events, household misunderstandings, divorce cases, family issues, women harassments, assaults, suicidal attempts, rapes etc. are given undue publicity, may be for the sake of breaking news, headlines & TRP. It seems that, except media and reporters, no one else benefits. Most of the events are accidents and there is no system to heal the wounds of psychological and social trauma. The members of family are harassed by asking the same question to create story for every channel and newspaper. The clippings and photos of family members confirm the identity. The women and family members die instead of living after such unwanted publicity.

This social defamation can be avoided by way of masking the identity, address and complete traceability of women and family. Govt. only can take appropriate steps and create helping situation to suffering women. The police and PRO's can hide the identity and brief to media carefully.

Our petition is waiting hearing at aggarwal.vinita@nic.in , Director, Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India.

We have also sent email to Press council of India, Hon. Attorney general, Solicitor General,  Addl. Govt. Councel,  Union Home minister, Secretaries of Union ministries: Home, Justice, Women & Child Dev.,Legislative dept; Law Commission etc and Nodal Public Grievance Officers @ Dept. of legal affairs, dept. of social justice, dept. of Women & child devpt. and ministry of culture.
